We are seeking a meticulous and reliable Bookkeeper & Payroll Officer to assist in the bookkeeping and payroll departments. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in accountancy and experience with recognised accounting software.
Duties - Payroll
Process employee wages and salaries accurately using recognised accounting
Manage payroll data entry, including hours worked, overtime, deductions, and bonuses
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements related to tax, National Insurance contributions, and other deductions
Maintain comprehensive payroll records and prepare reports for management review
Reconcile payroll accounts regularly to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly
Stay updated on changes in legislation affecting payroll processing and implement necessary adjustments
Duties - Bookkeeper
Reconcile bank statements and accounts
Submit VAT returns
Experience
Proven experience in an accountancy practise using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or Xero
Strong understanding of payroll procedures, tax regulations, and statutory compliance in the UK
Experience managing accounts payable is desirable
Proficiency in using accounting software packages and MS Office applications
Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail
Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally
