Brecon Store Branch Assistant

Initial 12-month contract with potential for extension

THE BUSINESS

Our busy Brecon store serves farmers and the local community with a wide range of products from animal feeds and medicines to clothing, footwear, gardening, household, fencing, fuel and farm equipment.

THE JOB

The job revolves around getting everything in place so you can help and serve customers at the counter so they get all the help they need - so experience is valuable and a total commitment to helping people is essential.

You will use the computer system to process customer transactions.

You will help customers with loading and work with colleagues to keep the shop and yard well stocked and immaculate.

After training you will take responsibility for a product section in the shop - say, electric fencing - and will then be responsible for stock control, merchandising and promotions for that section. You will be the lead person to help customers with any problems and to liaise with suppliers. So much communication is via IT these days, so pretty good computer literacy using phones and lap tops is of great value.

If the job were to become permanent, we would need you to become qualified to supply animal medicines - this does involve formal study and we fund and support this fully. This process can be tough and you may not pass first time - many don't - so the most important requirement here is that you are a determined person who sticks at things.

OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS

Living within reasonable distance (say 15 miles) of Brecon is a broad requirement of the job otherwise travelling costs eat into your income.

There is so much to learn, so coming from a farming background will be a great help - but we have many exceptional counter staff and branch managers who do not - first and foremost you should love helping people.

WORKING WEEK

The standard shift pattern covers 26 hours each week.

Monday, Thursday and Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm with an hour lunch break

Alternate Saturdays 9.00 am to 1pm
