It is a service-driven function made up of communications and marketing professionals who deliver sector-leading media relations, public affairs, institutional communications, brand and integrated marketing, student recruitment, and events.


About the role

UCL is seeking a

Brand Creative Executive

to help bring our refreshed brand to life as we approach our 200th anniversary in 2026. This newly created role will play a vital part in shaping compelling graphics, imagery and visual content that reflects UCL's unique identity and engages audiences worldwide.



Reporting to the Senior Brand Creative Manager, you will develop and deliver visual content strategies across a wide variety of media, from photography and graphics to animations, video and campaign assets. You will work closely with colleagues across the Brand Team, Strategic Communications and the wider Marketing community to produce creative content that tells UCL's story with impact and consistency.



In this role you will:


Design short- and long-form branded content for internal and external audiences, including social media, recruitment materials and promotional campaigns. Ensure the UCL brand is applied consistently across print, digital, presentations, publications and websites. Manage and curate a central library of assets for use by the wider UCL community. Act as a brand ambassador, presenting new content and sharing best practice across the university.
You will also play a hands-on role in flagship events such as graduation ceremonies and Open Days, bringing the brand to life at some of UCL's most high-profile moments.



This is an exciting opportunity to shape how UCL presents itself to the world at a pivotal time in our history, ensuring our refreshed brand is communicated with creativity, consistency and impact.


This is a hybrid role with 40% of working time on the UCL campus in Bloomsbury, London W1. This is a full-time fixed term post and is available to

start from 5 January 2026 and is funded until 31 July 2026.

About you

As a Brand professional, you have a strong grasp of design principles, typography, colour theory, layout and composition and are able to apply these creatively and effectively across a wide range of design projects.



You understand how to work within branding systems and have previous experience of applying visual identities in creative and consistent ways. An awareness of accessibility is central to your practice, and you will be confident designing in line with WCAG 2.2AA guidelines to ensure content is inclusive and accessible to all audiences.



The role requires excellent communication and relationship-building skills. You will be confident engaging stakeholders, presenting concepts, and tailoring content for a variety of audiences. Additionally, with your strong verbal and written skills you have the ability to adapt visual storytelling to meet the needs of diverse communities.



You will also be able to demonstrate the following:


Hold a post-graduate degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design, Interaction Design, Media, Communications (or a related discipline), or equivalent experience An ability to evaluate and refine creative outputs using testing, usability and impact metrics. A curiosity for new design techniques and emerging trends, with a focus on strengthening UCL's reputation and exploring new opportunities for communication.

Although not essential, any experience using AI tools to develop visual concepts and proof-of-concepts would be beneficial.
