Brand Director \xe2\x80\x93 HSJ Events

Location: Hybrid \xe2\x80\x93 Working 2 days per week in our Whitechapel, London office

Our Wilmington Events EMEA team deliver successful events for a variety of leading brands within our portfolio of businesses including Health Service Journal (HSJ), International Compliance Association (ICA), AXCO and MiExact.

This is an exciting role for someone to lead on all aspects of initiating, managing and delivering sustainable customer-led events and marketing solutions for HSJ. HSJ events generate \xc2\xa34m of revenue and range from long-standing events through to new launches and from Congresses to 1 day Forums and Awards.

It is anticipated that our Brand Director HSJ Events time will be spent as follows;

  • 40% planning and analysis
  • 30%-line management
  • 20% project management
  • 10% other

As our Brand Director, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Market Assessment / NPD \xe2\x80\x93 Identifying opportunities for events for HSJ, maintaining an NPD pipeline, monitoring the competitor market, identifying risks and opportunities and taking ownership of developing our 3-year growth plans.
  • Product Validation \xe2\x80\x93 Validating new commercial ideas, presenting launch Product Plans, undertaking research calls for new events, undertaking product research and clearly mapping the sponsorship and attendee opportunity.
  • Production Management \xe2\x80\x93 Leading programme meetings with producers, working to deliver market relevant inventory, managing the producers and supervising conferences processes, ensuring they are being followed.
  • Team Management \xe2\x80\x93 Recruiting, training and developing a team of producers, building development plans and optimising the efficiency of team members across the year.
  • Marketing Management \xe2\x80\x93 Ensuring all marketing copy is relevant, compelling and actionable, partnering with our Head of Commercial Marketing and reviewing KPIs such as quality & volume of leads, customer retention and new customer acquisition.
  • Project Management \xe2\x80\x93 Managing the forward schedule giving clear guidance, utilising our Microsoft Planner and sharing updates on progress, successes and challenges with internal stakeholders.
  • Commercials \xe2\x80\x93 Managing the Events P&L with responsibility to create a portfolio of events with adequate opportunity for sales, reporting on performance versus key milestones and KPIs, identifying commercial or delivery challenges and working with the team to find solutions.
  • Sponsorship & Delegate Sales Management \xe2\x80\x93 Overseeing effective sales planning, pipelines activity and forecasting to ensure pipelines are primed, developing a consistent sponsor and delegate package, reviewing our key growth KPIs
  • Operations Management \xe2\x80\x93 Developing the event budget with Head of Operations, collaborating with the Operations team on scheduling and venue requirements ensuring venues accommodate growth objectives and driving innovation pre, during and post events.
In order to be successful in this role you will also need:
  • Strong people management skills, and relationship building experience within an events business.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing the growth and launch of commercial events.
  • Experience of entire event planning process: production, marketing, sales, operations.
  • Clear understanding of what makes events commercially successful and external economic factors which effect an event business.
  • Excellent research, planning, communication and time management skills.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Sales CRM skills (SalesForce, MS Dynamics or similar), but not essential.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Proactive nature with the desire to innovate & improve products and processes.
  • Customer focussed, excellent relationship building & networking.
  • Financial, business planning and budgeting skills.
  • Enthusiasm & motivation to drive results forward.
  • Proactive team builder/inspirational.
  • Ability to engage & empathise, but also to challenge at senior levels.
