Generally Monday-Friday, social hours

Salary:

Negotiable depending on experience

Benefits:

30 days annual holiday allowance, (inclusive of bank and statutory holidays), increasing to 31 days after 1 year's employment and 35 days after 5 years. Weekly beer and trade sampling allowance; staff discount and company pension contribution; SB Active and Community perks.

Stewart Brewing is an award-winning, family-run brewery, which is undergoing substantial growth in an exciting market. Located in the Bilston Glen Industrial Estate in a custom-built brewery, the business is all about quality, exceptional service, and a fun and progressive team environment.

The role:



We're looking for a Brewery Engineer to take ownership of maintenance and engineering across our brewery, with a focus on improving reliability, standards and long-term performance.

This is a role for someone who enjoys solving real problems, making sensible improvements, and helping to modernise and evolve the brewery's engineering capability. You'll work across both day-to-day maintenance and longer-term projects, with the opportunity to shape how the site develops over time.

The business is ambitious about the future of its engineering function and sees this role as a key part of that journey. For the right person, there is clear scope to grow responsibility, influence and seniority as the brewery continues to evolve.

What you'll be responsible for:



Maintenance & reliability



Develop and embed preventative maintenance to improve reliability and reduce downtime Diagnose and resolve recurring issues across brewing, packaging and utilities Improve asset care, documentation and maintenance standards Support a proactive, planned approach to maintenance and improvements across the site

Projects & development



Lead and deliver engineering improvement and upgrade projects Improve, adapt and modernise existing plant and infrastructure Drive practical improvements to reliability, efficiency and operability Play a leading role in projects focused on energy efficiency, automation and reliability

Electrical & control competence



Carry out electrical fault-finding and maintenance across production and packaging equipment

Work safely and confidently with control panels, drives, motors, etc. Ensure electrical work is compliant with current regulations and best practice Support control, instrumentation or automation improvements where appropriate

Contractors & suppliers



Manage and coordinate external contractors and specialist engineers Specify scopes of work, oversee quality and ensure work is completed safely and effectively Liaise with equipment suppliers and vendors to source appropriate, reliable solutions Make balanced decisions that consider performance, maintainability and cost

Engineering leadership (developing)



Take ownership of engineering standards and ways of working Influence maintenance strategy and project prioritisation and execution Act as a technical point of reference for the wider business Help shape how the engineering function develops over time

Collaboration



Work closely with production, packaging and operations teams Be a positive, practical influence within a well-established team

What we're looking for



Essential:

A strong hands-on engineer with a mechanical bias Confident electrical fault-finding on industrial equipment and systems; electrically competent for downstream-of-isolation work Comfortable taking ownership, setting direction and seeing work through Skilled at managing external relationships and supervising contractors on site
Desirable:

18th Edition (or equivalent) electrical qualification Experience in breweries or process industries (pumps, valves, utilities, packaging lines) Experience with VSDs, control panels, instrumentation or basic automation Experience delivering improvement or capital projects An interest in developing broader leadership responsibility over time
