. Support is delivered online through video calls, messaging and structured digital check-ins.
The Coach works with learners who may be facing a wide range of challenges, including disrupted education, low confidence, emotional difficulties, family instability, and in some cases trauma influenced by drugs or alcohol. The aim is to help each young person stabilise, grow, and progress confidently in education or personal development.
This role is ideal for someone with a
teaching or tutoring background
, who is compassionate, patient and grounded in supporting vulnerable young people.
Key Responsibilities
Provide
fully remote
one-to-one and small-group mentoring sessions.
Support children and young people aged
5-25
with
literacy, numeracy and general school subjects
.
Assist with homework, revision planning, study skills and confidence-building.
Offer emotional support for young people experiencing the effects of trauma, instability or substance-related challenges.
Help learners develop resilience, emotional regulation and positive decision-making skills.
Work collaboratively with teachers, outreach staff and safeguarding leads to ensure a coordinated approach.
Maintain clear notes on academic and wellbeing progress.
Support young people in setting and reviewing goals, and help them transition into school, college, apprenticeships or other opportunities.
Encourage consistent attendance and engagement through positive, supportive communication.
Essential Skills & Experience
Teaching, tutoring, SEN, youth mentoring or pastoral care experience.
Strong understanding of child and adolescent development (ages 5-25).
Confidence supporting learners affected by trauma, behavioural difficulties or disrupted education.
Deep compassion, patience and emotional steadiness.
Ability to support young people facing complex issues, including those related to alcohol or drugs.
Excellent remote communication skills and ability to build rapport online.
Basic digital literacy (Zoom/Teams, Google Docs, safeguarding logs).
Desirable Skills
Trauma-informed practice or mental health first aid.
Experience supporting vulnerable families or multi-agency teams.
Strong safeguarding awareness.
Hours, Pay & Contract
Fully remote role
2 hours per day, 5 days per week
17 per hour
Fixed-term until March 2026
