Responsible for delivering a broad range of maintenance, repair, and minor installation services related to building fabric, including but not limited to carpentry, fire door installations, plastering, painting, tiling, basic plumbing and general construction tasks. The role also involves active participation in minor works and refurbishment projects, supporting the successful delivery of small to medium-scale improvement initiatives across various client sites. This position plays a key part in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and compliance while ensuring the built environment remains functional, safe, and visually presentable.
Main Duties are but not limited to:
Carry out a variety of building fabric tasks including carpentry, plastering, painting, tiling, basic plumbing and general construction to support project and refurbishment works.
Assist in the delivery of minor works and refurbishment projects across various client sites.
Prepare work areas by protecting surrounding surfaces, setting up access equipment, and ensuring all required materials and tools are on hand.
Install, repair, or replace building elements such as partitions, ceilings, doors, flooring, skirting, and fixtures in line with project specifications.
Read and interpret drawings, plans, or specifications to ensure accurate and compliant execution of works.
Liaise with site supervisors, project managers, and other trades to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient workflow.
Ensure all work is delivered to a high standard of quality, finish, and safety in accordance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
Maintain a clean and orderly working environment, ensuring that tools, materials, and waste are managed responsibly.
Attend briefings, site inductions, and training sessions as required to remain up to date with procedures, site requirements, and safety protocols.
Ensure all work is completed to a high-quality standard, meeting both internal and external client specifications.
Ensure that all new fabric installations meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Identify potential health and safety risks relating to fabric conditions (e.g. asbestos, structural instability) and escalate issues where necessary.
Complete any necessary documentation related to project works, including job records, material usage and timesheets.
Business Expectation
At least 2-3 years of experience in a building fabric role, with a strong understanding of building fabric.
Proficiency in fabric-related repairs (plastering, joinery, flooring, glazing, etc.) and an understanding of building construction best practices and materials.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and provide efficient and effective solutions.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to building maintenance and construction work.
Good communication skills for liaising with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
High attention to detail to ensure all work is completed to a high standard.
Documentation
DBS certification (essential and will be undertaken as part of the vetting process).
BS7858 vetting to be started.
City guilds qualifications.
Fire door qualifications.
Beneficial certifications: CSCS, IPAF, or similar qualifications.
Full UK driving licence
