Following a service redesign to improve efficiency and take a more strategic approach to managing our property portfolio, we're looking for an exceptional

Building and Facilities Manager

to join our senior leadership team and take the reins of a diverse, high-profile property portfolio. The portfolio comprises approximately 200 properties including tenanted commercial and residential investment properties, tenanted community properties and operational properties. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our organisation -- one that demands vision, technical expertise, and the ability to drive meaningful change.

You'll be responsible for ensuring our buildings are safe, compliant, efficient, and fit for the future. From leading capital projects to championing sustainability and decarbonisation, this is your chance to shape the built environment for generations to come.

Key Responsibilities



Lead the strategic management of council buildings and facilities, ensuring operational excellence and long-term asset resilience. Oversee contract and supplier performance, driving value, quality, and innovation across maintenance and service delivery. Manage capital and refurbishment projects from inception to completion, aligning with council priorities and community needs. Champion compliance across health & safety, statutory obligations, and building regulations. Drive decarbonisation initiatives and energy efficiency improvements across the estate. Provide expert advice and challenge to managing agents, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.

This is a full-time position on a permanent contract, working 37 hours a week Monday to Friday on-site, with some hybrid working.

About You:



We're seeking a confident, capable leader who brings both technical depth and strategic vision:

Proven leadership in building and facilities management within complex, multi-site organisations. Strong technical knowledge of M&E systems, building compliance, lifecycle planning, and asset performance. Demonstrated success in contract management, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement. A strategic thinker with a proactive approach to risk, sustainability, and innovation. Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels -- from contractors to elected members.
