Building Safety Manager 1 X Permanent & 1 X 12 Month Ftc

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Keep people safe in their homes by ensuring our buildings meet the highest safety standards.

As a Building Safety Manager, you'll play a vital role in keeping people safe in their homes - with both permanent and fixed-term opportunities available to join our growing Fire, Health and Safety team.

Working Style:

You'll be based in the Borough for 3 days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you're working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents' lives.

What you'll be doing:

As a Building Safety Manager, you'll lead on structural and fire safety across our higher-risk residential buildings. You'll oversee the day-to-day safety of our residents' homes, making sure everything we do complies with building safety legislation and beyond. Working closely with project teams and fire engineers, you'll develop and submit Building Safety Case Reports to the regulator, arranging inspections, fire risk assessments and responding to regulatory requests as needed.

Your role will also involve regular audits across our 37 high-rise buildings, challenging technical information where appropriate and making sure follow-up actions are implemented quickly and effectively. A big part of your work will be engaging with residents, making sure they are heard, keep informed and most importantly feel safe in their homes. You'll support wider building improvements and refurbishments too, working collaboratively with teams across the Council.

What you'll bring

You'll be someone who's confident working with technical detail and who knows how to ask the right questions. You will either hold or be working towards a recognised Building Safety qualification and have relevant professional registration. A fire safety qualification is also essential. You'll need a solid understanding of building construction and structures, and experience managing projects or contributing to them.

This is a people-focused role as well as a technical one, so excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must. You'll be speaking with residents, colleagues and regulators, and need to communicate clearly and professionally at every level.

Why join us

At RBKC, we're all in - investing in our people, our communities and our future.

We're building one of the most skilled and competent fire safety teams in the country, and you'll be a vital part of that. From day one, you'll be supported with regular training and professional development opportunities to help you grow in your career. You'll work in a diverse and collaborative team that takes pride in what they do, with the shared goal of keeping people safe.
