Job PurposeMy client is looking for an experienced professional Building Services Engineer to join their successful team supporting both design and site-based engineering activities.The BSE role will be to support the design and site project functions of the business to ensure the throughput of work is delivered in accordance with programmes, attendances and/or quality schedules agreed with clients.To take operational responsibility of projects regarding all aspects of delivery from design, project management including quality and programmes, health and safety, client liaison and cost control.Main Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe BSE?EUR(TM)s design and site-based work shall include, but not be limited to, the following activities: -
  • Hand design calculations and use of CIBSE design guides and other associated industry recognised literature
  • Prepare design calculations and use of software engineering programmes such as HevaCOMP
  • Production of engineering design plans, elevations and schematics via hand mark-ups, digital mark-ups, or CAD
  • Production of engineering schedules and specifications
  • Undertake peer reviews of project work prior to client issue
  • Production and management of project control tools such as RFI schedule, IRS and document control forms
  • Production and management of quality control procedures for site inspections and commissioning statements
  • Production and management of programmes for design and commissioning projects
  • Production and management of trackers and test packs for commissioning projects
  • Attendance of meetings and production-of including circulation of meeting minutes whether attending or chairing on behalf of JFMEP or JFMEP clients
  • Review of 3rd party documentation (i.e. architectural drawings) issued by clients or design teams working in conjunction with JFMEP
  • Carry out surveys and reports of building services installations to assist with client tenders, scopes or other
  • Carry out review and appraisal of subcontractor tender returns
  • Undertake CAD design using Autodesk/AutoCAD software packages (preferred by not essential)
  • Undertake drawing checks and reviews of 2D and 3D drawings produced by 3rd party organisation on behalf of JFMEP
  • Undertake general daily administrative tasks such as drawing release schedule and issue sheets
  • Use of company email system and IT server system (refer to IT and communications policy)
  • Production of operation and maintenance documentation for project completion programmes
  • Managing financial control of projects ensuring budgets are being maintained and notified to JFMEP Directors
ExperienceThe ideal candidate will have a recognised qualification in Building Services Engineering either in a Mechanical or Electrical bias, with a good grounding of both engineering disciplines.
  • A Minimum of 3 years?EUR(TM) experience in the building services industry
  • Excellent knowledge of Building Services systems throughout a variety of building types
  • Have a professional and pro-active approach
  • Excellent communication Skills
  • Procedurally minded
  • Experience in working effectively with customers, consultant?EUR(TM)s and the wider supply chain
  • Persistent and thorough, with experience in delivering building services engineering installations in line with defined project goals
  • Take operational responsibility for delivery of building services engineering works in terms of Health and Safety, programme and quality.
  • Manage the building services engineering design/commissioning process and minimise risks associated with this to the project and to the company

  • CSCS Card holder
