The Role: Building Services Technician, Cavendish Estate




About the Role




We are seeking a skilled and proactive Building Services Technician to join our Estates team. This hands-on role is vital to ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and improvement of our departmental facilities. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance across our buildings and equipment.


Key Responsibilities




Diagnose and repair faults in heating, ventilation, cooling systems, and other departmental plant and equipment. Monitor and respond to issues identified via the Building Management System (BMS), liaising with Estates and the Building Services Manager as needed. Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer and Estates guidelines. Undertake minor refurbishments and improvements to rooms, including layout changes and installation of fixtures and fittings. Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, including fire alarm system testing and safety documentation. Support with refurbishment projects across various areas of the site. Perform minor building works such as pipework alterations, leak repairs, and alterations to building fabric i.e. painting & decorating. Conduct Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and routine electrical inspections, recording outcomes and performing necessary repairs.

Qualifications and Experience




Relevant, current, and demonstrable experience in a similar role or level. A-level standard of education, NVQ Level 3 vocational qualification, or equivalent practical experience. Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices. Good verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with both traditional and modern maintenance techniques. Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Demonstrated understanding of principles, processes, and concepts related to Building Services.
