Qualification - You will have a construction related qualification or equivalent demonstrable work experience with knowledge of effective professional surveying service for major repairs, minor planned works and legal housing disrepair.
Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.
Manchester City Council Housing Services manage over 12,500 homes across north Manchester, committed to providing safe, well-maintained homes guided by accountability, legal standards, and active tenant engagement.
As part of the team, working as a surveyor, you will play a vital role in surveying the whole of the Housing Stock against both professional and sector standards ensuring the homes we provide meet our core values as detailed in our Placed called Home Strategy.
If you're successful, you'll join a team of Surveying professionals pushing forward a high standard of healthy, safe, sustainable, and accessible homes across the across the portfolio of 12,500 properties that we manage.
This role will be working within the Repairs and Maintenance team in Housing Services, responsible for:

• Professional surveying services, the management of responsive repairs works, void property works, damp, mould and condensation works, major repairs and minor planned works, housing disrepair, and aids and adaptations maintenance services.

• Supporting on the management of reactive repairs, void property repairs, major repairs, minor planned works and major insurance works. Take project management leadership for the end-to-end of the process, including the management of third-party consultants. Ensure that where work is delegated or carried out by other parties, such as contractors, that over-view is managed, and deadlines achieved successfully.

• Working on the delivery of legal housing disrepair remedial works inclusive of the undertaking of joint inspections, producing Scott Schedules and ensure works are issued and completed in accordance with agreed schedules and legal settlements.

• Effectively diagnose and mitigate any identified HHSRS and damp and mould risks, inclusive of the management of works and activities through to completion.

About the Candidate
You will have a construction related qualification or equivalent demonstrable work experience with knowledge of effective professional surveying service for major repairs, minor planned works and legal housing disrepair.
You must have demonstrable knowledge of building construction, building standards, planning regulations, regulatory standards, health & safety and other legislation relevant to asset management with effective communications skills, both oral and written with colleagues, residents, service providers, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders.
