Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Building Surveyor to join Southampton City Council (SCC) in the Repairs and Maintenance Team within Corporate Estate and Assets.
About the team
You will be part of the busy Repairs and Maintenance (R&M) Department within Corporate Estates and Assets, undertaking a range of duties supporting the delivery of Building Surveying and Repairs and Maintenance works across the city.
About the role
The Building Surveyor will be responsible for undertaking Repairs and Maintenance works across the corporate and commercial estates to include the following:

  • To manage and oversee repairs and maintenance across the corporate estate;
  • To assist with the triage, allocation and oversite of works identified through the repairs helpdesk;
  • To undertake annual condition surveys;
  • To undertake pre and post contract administration services;
  • To assist the Team Leader - Repairs and Maintenance in the day to day running the R&M Team.
You must be Educated to degree level in Building Surveying or a related discipline or equivalent professional experience (Minimum 10 years).

About you:
  • Educated to degree level in Building Surveying or related discipline or equivalent professional experience (Minimum 10 years).
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience of managing a budget and operating in accordance with financial policy.
  • Excellent level of IT literacy to be able to interrogate and analyse databases and datasets, use self service digital user platforms and applications.

Salary: The salary band for this role is 47,181 - 51,357. The starting salary is 47,181 with annual progression through the salary bands.
