Corporate Estates Maintenance have a vacancy for an experienced Building Surveyor to join the team. The posts will require the successful person to assist in all aspects of the team's delivery and strategic initiatives for the Council relating to the property management of the Council's portfolio.



The post holders will be required to:



Participate in the successful delivery of Day to Day maintenance and Statutory maintenance functions.



Assist Principal and Senior Building Surveyors in the gathering and preparation of project briefing documents and establish initial budget estimates.



Participate in the delivery of multiple projects across various programmes of work for capital schemes across all Service Groups from conception to completion.



Participate in the development and improvement initiatives, procurement of a range of contracts as deemed necessary.



Participate in the Council's Emergency Out of Hours service, including Dangerous Structures and Works in Default.



Undertake condition surveys and establish backlog maintenance requirements to produce reports and record within the Councils software system.



The successful person will need to be a problem solver, strategic thinker, with excellent design ability holding an appropriate qualification; you will be flexible in your approach and be IT literate with good experience of MS Office and a working knowledge of AutoCAD.



The posts will involve working closely with the Electrical, Mechanical and Compliance sections within the Team assisting with the pre programme planning, project management, contract coordination and administration.



You will also participate in the delivery of the Council's Net Zero Carbon initiative, may be called upon to liaise with Senior Members of the Council and individuals at all levels within the organisation as well as with external agencies and the public. You must be flexible and be able to respond to changing demands and priorities, be able to work as an individual with self-motivation as well as being a good team player, a good communicator and be able to act with diplomacy in difficult and sensitive areas to achieve challenging targets and continuous improvement required within this high-profile service area.



The hours of work are 37 per week. The post will be based within the Corporate Maintenance Team at Valleys Innovation Centre, Abercynon. Currently a mix of office attendance and agile working.
