The Red Brick Building Centre Ltd is a an innovative community based-owned social enterprise based in the former Morlands Factory and we have an exciting opportunity for a practical, enthusiastic and community-minded person to take on a central role in maintaining and developing the building.

As our new Building and Facilities Manager, you will be part of a small, friendly team, working together to create a positive social impact through arts, education, enterprise and wellbeing and will be our main contract for contractors, trades and IT support. You will also be responsible for co-ordinating building related communications, including IT, fire safety, security and utilities.

No two days will be quite the same and your working day will be busy and varied so it is important that you are happy to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in to whatever is needed!

Main Responsibilities:

Attending to the growing needs of the building and site by taking responsibility for the management of maintenance, housekeeping, health and safety and general facilities. Coordinating with all contractors on site and serving as liaison for all building related matters. Supporting with relevant recruitment efforts and delivering health and safety inductions for all new staff including employees and volunteers. Acting as the organisation's Health and Safety Officer. Regularly reviewing and suggesting improvements to internal procedures and strategy to ensure compliance Championing a positive working culture that supports collaboration, conflict resolution, inclusivity and shared responsibility. Ensuring the building and grounds are maintained to a high standard. Managing repairs and ongoing maintenance and supervising cleaning and maintenance staff. Working with the team and Finance Manager to develop and monitor the maintenance budget. Overseeing building systems and utilities Supporting the team as needed, for example setting up event rooms, assisting with tenant recruitment and setting up IT equipment. Managing the building's insurance policies. Managing and issuing tenant leases. Undertaking minor repairs and regular maintenance to the building fabric. Acting as a keyholder and managing key control for the site, together with opening and closing the premises as needed. Taking out of hours emergency calls on a rota or as required. Supporting wider community initiatives such as the community garden and occasional events. Carrying out daily site walkarounds and routine checks of the fire safety, Health and Safety measures and utilities. Ensuring full compliance with Health and Safety Legislation and Red Brick Building's policies. Maintaining and regularly reviewing Risk Assessments. Performing regular safety checks, maintaining fire logs, scheduling the testing of fire alarms and emergency lighting and keeping First Aid supplies fully stocked. Keeping up to date with the latest relevant legislation, best practice guidance and industry standards.

What We are Looking For?

You should have maintenance management experience. Experience of supervising maintenance and housekeeping teams and handling budgets. Experience of Health and Safety Management, First Aid and Fire Safety. Excellent record keeping and accuracy, detail-orientated with an organisational nature. A vast understanding of UK Health and Safety laws. Familiarity with basic software and working knowledge of MS office, plus a willingness to orientate new systems. Enthusiasm and willingness to engage in personal development and leadership training. You will have a strong community minded and team player ethos. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and ethical mindset. Personable, approachable and ability to get on well with a diverse range of people. A problem solving mindset and ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
