Buried Services Coordinator

Job Description


A long term, inside IR35 opportunity exists for a Buried Services/Utilities coordinator/specialist on an iconic project in West Yorkshire. Your experience in locating, identifying, recording, informing and managing buried services whilst managing the nominated subcontractors, interfacing with the design team and collaborating with the stakeholders for a tier one principal contractors, is sought.
Key Responsibilities include -

  • To develop, manage and implement processes for the detection and protection of all services.
  • To ensure these works are undertaken so as to prevent any possible delay to the main construction programme.
  • Liaise with designers to finalise designs
  • To liaise with service providers and to obtain and maintain records of services within and in the vicinity of the site
  • Manage the early contractor involvement.
  • To approve permits-to-dig and maintain records of permits issued
  • To ensure that all service positions are physically marked out.
  • To ensure all staff an subcontractors are briefed and aware of services and the potential hazards they present.
  • To contribute to the development of WPPs and Task Briefs.
  • To supply input into producing the budget and the pricing work packages,
  • To ensure that there is an accurate understanding of all service information at all stages of construction.
  • To work with other disciplines to assist in developing the scope of temporary, civils, M&E needed to facilitate the delivery to the programme of the main civils works.
  • To collaborate with permanent and TW, civils and M&E Designers, sub-contractors, CRE, TOC, Utility suppliers, M&E Manager and the civils delivery team.
Requirements for this opportunity include -
  • Preferably a civil engineering qualification.
  • Can demonstrate progression through the civil engineering route.
  • Be able to demonstrate extensive experience with all types of underground, above ground and building services.
  • Experience in a similar position (Sub Agent) for a tier one contractor of a large project, preferably on a rail project
  • Proficient in managing staff and subcontractors as well as the processes.
  • Competent in the use of CAD
  • Proficient in PAS128
  • A CAT&Genny or similar approved user
  • CSCS, SMSTS/SSTS, First Aid and
  • PTS (must be prepared to obtain)
