We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Bus Drivers at the 100 Logistics Readiness Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) Mildenhall , United Kingdom.

What will be your primary role?



The primary purpose of this position is to operate one or more types of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles typically having a maximum gross weight (Max GW) of up up to 44 tonnes. Operating articulated lorries and trucks and buses capable of carrying 16 or more passengers on public roads (or equivalent) in a full range of traffic conditions and at highway speeds.

The successful applicant will also operate one or more electric, LPG or diesel powered fork lift trucks. You will also be responsible for performing operator maintenance and maintaining records and documenting actions, all whilst utilizing safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Qualification requirements:



Must hold a valid, in-date category C+E driving license Must hold a valid in-date category D driving license Must be able to provide a Drivers Certificate of Professional Competency (Driver CPC) A valid, in-date fork lift license is desirable but not essential

What are the Key Skills required for this role?



1. Knowledge of operating one or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a max GW under 44 tonnes such as heavy load in-line trucks, or interstate motor coaches and knowledge of operating tractor and trailer combinations of up to 44 tonnes.

2. Knowledge of operating buses capable of carrying 16 or more passengers.

3. Knowledge of cargo handling and hauling techniques for safeguarding and protecting cargo.

4. Knowledge traffic and safety regulations, practices, and procedures pertaining to motor vehicle and fork lift operation.

5. Knowledge of operating one or more electric, LPG, or diesel powered fork lifts.

6. Ability to judge road/traffic conditions and read maps to determine the shortest and safest route; interpret instructions, specifications, etc. related to motor vehicle, fork lift, and power take-off unit operation and preventative maintenance; and meet pickup and delivery deadlines and schedules.

What are the conditions of employment for this role?



1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.

2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.

3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.

4. Overtime may be required.

5. You may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.

6. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

7. Your hours of work will be 234 hours every 6 weeks consisting of 2 early shifts (06.00-14.00), 2 late shifts (13.30-22.00) and 2 rest days a rostered schedule where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organisation's flexible working policies.

8. This position requires the ability to discern colours, contrast and depth.

9. The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays.

10. Shift work and working at the weekend may be required.

11. Required to operate fork lifts to facilitate cargo loading/unloading, experience is desirable.
