What will be your primary role?
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Bus Drivers at the 100th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Royal Air Force Mildenhall, United Kingdom.
The primary purpose of this position is to drive an array of vehicles, buses and cars on RAF Mildenhall and UK roads. Operators will conduct and record daily checks, reporting appropriate issues to a supervisor. This position is rostered over 7 days, 2x early shifts, 2x late shifts, and 2x days off, repeated over 6 weeks.
A valid UK Category D driving license and a DCPC (Drivers Cert of Professional Competency) is required for this position.

What are the Key Skills required for this role?
Knowledge of operating buses capable of carrying 16 or more passengers.
Knowledge of cargo handling and hauling techniques for safeguarding and protecting cargo.
Knowledge of traffic and safety regulations, practices, and procedures pertaining to motor vehicle and fork lift operation.
Knowledge of operating one or more gasoline, diesel, or electrical powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) under 44 tonnes such as heavy load in-line trucks, or interstate motor coaches.
Knowledge of operating one or more electric, LPG or diesel powered fork lifts.
Ability to judge road/traffic conditions and read maps to determine the shortest and safest route; interpret instructions, specifications,etc related to motor vehicle, fork lift, and power take-off unit operation and preventative maintenance; ad meet pickup and delivery deadlines and schedules.
What are the conditions of employment for this role?
You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period (remember to change if firefighter). Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
This position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast and depths. The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Shift work and working weekends may be required. The incumbent may be subject to random testing for drug use. Experience in operating fork lifts to facilitate cargo loading/unloading is desirable. May be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
The shifts for this position will be:
2 x early shifts - 06.00 - 14.00
2 x late shifts - 13.30 - 22.00
2 x days off
