Job Description

To assist in the efficient running of a material transfer facility while gaining practical experience and formal training in business administration. The apprentice will work under supervision to develop the skills and knowledge required to become a qualified business administrator.

Duties & Responsibilities



Operational support on material ticketing and transfer notes. Act as cover for the site weighbridge. Assist in sample analysis and paperwork for material sampling. Administrate ticketing for barge movements. Manage stakeholders and their differing relationships. Customer Service - Interact professionally with truck drivers, contractors, and visitors. Provide basic direction for drop-off zones when needed. Input new jobs and prices into the site systems to assist in daily business operations. Safety & Compliance. Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and site rules. Report any hazards, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions to supervisors. Learn environmental and regulatory standards related to waste handling and recycling. Fill in logs and site checks for health, safety and environmental compliance.

What you will learn



Software and systems for material tracking and invoicing. Produce accurate records through learning site systems. Build and maintain positive relationships with a small internal team and external clients. Paperwork requirements for daily site operations. Environmental and waste management practices. Teamwork and communication.

Requirements



Essential:

Basic numeracy and literacy skills. Must be eligible to enrol in a recognised apprenticeship program. Working knowledge of Microsoft word and excel computer software.
Desirable:

GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English. Any previous experience within the construction/ waste industry.
