We're looking for a Business Support Officer to join our Children's Services team in East Sussex, supporting the Looked After Children (LAC) service. If this sound like something you can do, we want to hear from you! Please read more and start your application today!




The Business Support Officer is a vital role which supports the delivery of services that improve the outcomes for vulnerable children and young people. As a Business Support Officer, you'll ensure the smooth running of day-to-day operations through a mix of administration, data analysis, project support, and communication. You'll also manage a team of Senior Business Administrators, overseeing their workload and supporting remote and office-based staff. Working closely with managers, schools, and health professionals, a Business Support Officer will provide high-level business and technical support--including financial reconciliation and project coordination--to help safeguard children and enhance their life chances.


The key tasks of the role involve providing effective local financial support to managers by using computerised management information systems to deliver accurate information. This includes investigating financial queries, reporting findings, and making recommendations for appropriate action. The role also requires operating financial administration and procurement processes in accordance with corporate rules, such as raising orders, arranging payments, requesting invoices, and maintaining local financial records. Additionally, the role includes managing office supplies and purchasing stock as needed to ensure the smooth operation of administrative services and to support team requirements.




We're seeking a confident professional with strong organisational skills, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to leadership and service delivery.




The people we are looking for will have:


NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration or equivalent relevant experience. Ability to design, develop and implement effective administrative systems to meet changing needs of the service. Supervision or line management experience. Ability to organise own and team workload and meet deadlines, able to work calmly and effectively under pressure. Ability to exercise discretion in dealing with sensitive information to maintain strict confidentiality where appropriate. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Internet Explorer and experience of operating effective administration management processes. Ability to work on own initiative.
