Role Overview:

The purpose of the role is to enable IT and organisational change by using a specialised business analysis approach together with change management skills. You will guide and challenge the business to identify the need for change by defining requirements and recommending solutions that will maximise the value delivered by the business to its customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define, own and agree the business analysis approach to be applied for the analysis activities required on the programme, project or initiative, ensuring that all activities align with change governance, quality standards as well as strategic business objectives.
  • Work to understand the existing business environment, business needs and elicit business requirements from stakeholders at all levels of seniority
  • Manage end-to-end clear traceability, maintenance, prioritisation, change control and approval mechanisms of analysis activity
  • Recommend potential business solutions in line with business objectives, data needs and requirements
  • Support the development of solutions by working closely with solution partners and suppliers
  • Develop and apply business analysis best practice tools, techniques and standards
  • Lead, mentor and coach others on the business analysis career path and/or a programme, project or initiative
  • Learn from previous experience and understand how benefits have been delivered by participating in post-implementation reviews, lessons learned sessions and knowledge share/peer reviews
  • Seek feedback and learnings from other more experienced Business Analysts, as well as contribute to the continuous learning of the profession.
  • Along with the PM, work with senior stakeholders in defining business visions and developing the strategies to meet these via strategic analysis, feasibility studies and business cases
  • Work with the PM to set up, scope and initiate change programmes, projects and initiatives to deliver business benefits.
Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in defining and leading business analysis approaches within Waterfall and Agile methodologies from change and systems development perspectives
  • Application of recognised industry standard modelling techniques, including data modelling and BPMN
  • Experience and knowledge of systems lifecycle concepts used to plan, develop, implement, operate and maintain IT systems/services.
Experience:
  • Knowledge and experience in understanding how businesses operate and key drivers for change
  • Experience or demonstrable knowledge of the insurance industry including products, services and differing business models, ideally with an IT background
  • High degree of organisation, task planning and time management
  • Experience of different project methods and how these impact the work a business analyst carries out
  • Experience of working in a business analysis role on a number of high complexity change initiatives/projects
  • Good appreciation of the wider field of IT systems (architecture, hardware and software), their use in relevant business processes and how they are implemented to meet business objectives
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written - and MS Office as well as an understanding of tools used to support change management and software development
  • Experience of planning and facilitating workshops of varying size
  • Leadership, mentoring, coaching and people management skills
  • Experience influencing and managing stakeholders up to board level
  • Experience working with remote/offshore/third party teams.
Qualifications:
  • Educated to degree level or holder of further professional qualifications and experience
  • BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis (or equivalent)
  • CII Qualification is desirable.
