Role Overview


The Business Analyst will play a key role in supporting transformational business change initiatives. The role involves working closely with stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and document requirements in line with established practice standards, policies, procedures, and methodologies. The successful candidate will help define acceptance criteria, support benefits realisation, and ensure solutions deliver measurable value to the business.

This position requires an inquisitive and analytical mindset, with the ability to challenge assumptions, gain a deep understanding of business processes and operating models, and identify opportunities for improvement. The role demands professionalism, strong stakeholder engagement, and a drive to enable sustainable and effective change.

Key Responsibilities



Lead business analysis activities across multiple change initiatives, producing detailed requirements specifications to support the delivery of IT-enabled solutions (bespoke software, third-party products, and cloud-based platforms). Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements, including UI designs, data models, process changes, and interface specifications. Apply the full Requirements Engineering framework, ensuring comprehensive elicitation, analysis, validation, documentation, and traceability of requirements. Select and apply appropriate elicitation techniques such as interviews, workshops, and surveys to capture accurate and complete requirements. Develop AS-IS and TO-BEprocess models using defined standards, and perform gap analysis to support effective transition planning. Manage stakeholder communication and engagement at all organisational levels. Support and oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure deliverables meet business requirements. Collaborate with project teams to deliver solutions that align with business objectives and add tangible value.

Essential Skills & Experience



Proven ability to gather, interpret, and evaluate information from multiple sources to accurately identify user needs. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply logical reasoning. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships across all levels of an organisation. Awareness of application technologies and how they can be leveraged to achieve business benefits. Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage tasks in a dynamic environment. Proactive, motivated, and accountable, with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility. Creative thinker with the ability to approach problems from new perspectives. Self-driven with a commitment to continuous professional development and a strong customer service ethos.

Desirable Skills & Experience



Experience within the water, wastewater, or wider utilities sectors. Previous involvement in projects related to legacy platform replacement and data migration. Professional qualification in Business Analysis (e.g., BCS Business Analysis certification or diploma, Lean Six Sigma). Professional qualification in Agile methodologies, ideally Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 70,000.00-80,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Bradford BD1 1PJ
