DMH Stallard LLP is a leading and award winning South East firm of Solicitors providing a full range of legal services to businesses and individuals from offices in London, Brighton, Gatwick, Guildford, Hassocks and Horsham. We now have a headcount of over 390 staff (93 of which are Partners) and annual revenues of 45m. The department


The firm operates a centralised IT function based in the Gatwick office. There are currently 19 members of the IT team which consists of a Service team, Operations (Infrastructure and Security) team, Projects team and Business Applications team. Over the last two years the Firm has carried out a significant programme of work to update and future proof our IT infrastructure, including migration to a new Managed Service Provider (MSP). In line with the firms IT strategy, focus now turns to developing and delivering improvements to the firm's business applications to maximise operational efficiencies and enhance client experience for matter management as well as phasing out legacy systems.


Main purpose of the role




DMH Stallard is currently undertaking a significant transformation programme across the firms IT services. Delivering this programme of work is crucial to the success of the firm's business strategy of ensuring our services, applications and processes work in a way that maximises the benefits to the users and the firm. This role is critical part of achieving the firm's goals combining translation of business requirements to solution selection, application design and through to development, testing, acceptance and into go-live support.


Key Duties and Responsibilities




Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with product owners and subject matter experts, including senior management, to capture and document business requirements. Data Analysis: Apply structured analysis techniques to business data sources to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights that support informed decision-making. Requirements Definition: Develop clear user stories, functional and non-functional requirements, and process documentation. Facilitation: Lead workshops and conduct work shadowing sessions to understand current processes and define future-state requirements. Solution Design: Partner with IT Managers and stakeholders to evaluate solution options, including enhancements to existing systems, new software acquisition, or service customisation. Compliance Assurance: Work closely with the Information Security Officer to ensure all new software, services, and processes are in line with the firm's Information Security Framework (ISO 27001). Technical Collaboration: Collaborate with developers to design and document technical solutions aligned with business needs. Business Understanding: Maintain a deep understanding of business operations and practices, translating them into effective application delivery and support strategies. Deployment Support: Assist with software deployment activities and prepare release documentation. Architecture Management: Build and maintain the IT systems architecture repository for accurate and up-to-date documentation. Communication & Coordination: Ensure clear communication of requirements and specifications within the IT development team and with external suppliers to enable effective collaboration.

Experience and Qualifications




BCS certifications advantageous Direct practical experience with the analysis, design and implementation of legal CMS (Case Management Systems) and workflow automation. Experience of Practice and Document Management Systems, and other legal applications. Strong understanding of agile software development lifecycles and ability to implement appropriate analysis and design, planning to suit the development needs of the business. Experience of working in an IT environment in a law firm or professional services. Familiar with Secure by Design principles and able to implement across a team and department. Experience of working with business stakeholders to gather and analyse their requirements and using software functionality to meet those requirements. Excellent IT applications skills, particularly Microsoft Office Business and systems analysis. SQL data query and SQL development knowledge. Business process modelling notation (BPMN).

Location:

Based in Gatwick, although travel to other offices in London, Sussex and Surrey will be required from time to time.
