About The Job

We\'re looking for a Business Analyst to join Data.SN within Springer Nature Operations. Springer Nature is a leading publisher of scientific books, journals and magazines with over 3000 journal titles and one of the world\'s largest corpora of peer-reviewed scientific text data. You would be joining the B2B programme to support the transformation of how Springer Nature uses its data to create a foundation for the future, adding value to cross-organisation Initiatives and kick-starting data-driven Innovation.

One of our key strategies is identifying new ways to generate value through data by working with prioritised and strategic business areas; B2B- Institutional data is one of the areas.

The B2B-Institutional Data Team

At Springer Nature, understanding our customers is critical to delivering valuable and relevant products and services. The B2B-Institutional data team works with diverse departments, domains, and systems to provide meaningful analytical data to help the business grow and nurture our relationship with our institutional customers. This means that our team - consisting of analysts, engineers, and a product and project manager - strives to expand, design, and deliver data as a product to support this.

You will join a cross-functional team with different nationalities, backgrounds and experience levels. All team members collaborate to deliver solutions that best satisfy the needs of our business, and we are working to create a culture that encourages new ideas and innovation that best suits Springer Nature\'s vision.

The role is in either London (UK) or Berlin (Germany). In addition, there will be travel at times with colleagues in many of our global offices.

About You

What will you be doing

Within 3 Months, you will:

Understand the team\'s context in the broader programme and business.

Have developed relationships with team members and core stakeholders.

Be familiar with the data landscape.

Co-plan, organise and lead group sessions that generate ideas and resolve problems.

Unearth the root cause(s) of pain points and validate business opportunities and issues.

Strengthen team ceremonies conducted regularly, adding value to the delivery process.

Finally, be an active participant in the Business Analyst communities.

By 3-6 months, you will:

Have a clear understanding of the team\'s priorities and be able to communicate this to stakeholders.

Build relationships with key providers and dependent teams.

Monitor, track and communicate progress, risks and issues to stakeholders.

Be able to prioritise competing demands and obtain buy-in from stakeholders.

Map, analyse and validate information flows and user journeys to and from the product/service digital estate.

Gauge the complexity or scope of a piece of work, collaboratively breaking it into smaller pieces as appropriate.

Contribute to blameless post-mortems.

Set context with your team to ensure co-defined solutions provide business value while solving customer problems.

By 6-12 months, you will:

Onboard new members to the team.

Co-define the complexity or scope of a piece of work, breaking it into smaller pieces when appropriate.

Ensure scoped work aligns with the programme and company vision.

Contribute to the design of the system architecture.

Understand our customer\'s internal and external needs and how your work affects their experience.

Give and receive constructive feedback from your team.

Organise and facilitate sessions with your discipline peers within the Business Analyst community.

Work with your team to define the vision and strategy regarding business and customer outcomes.

Define KPIs to measure performance in business and customer outcomes.

Have a thorough understanding of the potential opportunities and limitations of your offering.

Instil a data-driven approach to current and future product/service development.

Day-to-day responsibilities

As part of an Agile team, day-to-day, you will:

Engage in and facilitate ceremonies such as our planning, prioritisation and steering sessions, collaborative analysis and design workshops, showcases to internal customers and regular retrospectives.

Work with various stakeholders to understand, analyse and scope new work.

Support your team members in problem-solving activities to remove blockers and complete agreed-upon work.
