Role:

The Global Fund Services business is one of the fastest growing areas in Northern Trust, offering a comprehensive suite of fund products and services to Asset Managers worldwide.

The role is within Northern Trust\xe2\x80\x99s growing UK Fund Accounting team. This team looks after more than 10% of all UK Authorised Funds for numerous Fund Management clients. This is an operational management position to oversee and support a centralised Financial Reporting oversight team. The successful applicant will be responsible for the oversight and sign off of all client\xe2\x80\x99s Report & Accounts and distributions whereby the production of these functions is located in another jurisdiction.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Direct management of the Financial Reporting Team in the UK and responsible for the oversight of Asian production teams ensuring compliance with operational best practice, regulatory requirements and client deliverables
  • Pro-active engagement and partnership across all geographic regions and offices to ensure that all groups benefit from operating model and initiatives.
  • Guides team members in the resolution of difficult client reporting/accounting problems that are not routine in nature.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork and communication.
  • To deliver a quality service to our clients and take the necessary corrective and preventative actions to ensure all KPI deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Support the development of the production jurisdiction and actively provide feedback on performance to local managers.
  • Continually assess the oversight team\xe2\x80\x99s processes to improve efficiency, reduce risk or cost, as well as assisting in the enhancement of revised departmental procedures for use as a training tool.
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will benefit from having:
  • The applicant should currently hold a Section Manager previously held that position within another financial services environment.
  • A record of leading large teams including remotely to deliver both business as usual work to a high standard as well as key developments and improvements.
  • As an absolute minimum the job holder should have passed the required FCA Training & Competence exams (or have been \xe2\x80\x9cGrandfathered\xe2\x80\x9d); however, additional qualifications are expected.
  • Minimum 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a financial services environment, including Financial Reporting, with at least 5 years of managing people.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for liaising with other members within their team, other internal department, Trustees/Depositaries, Custodians, Auditors and the Fund Management Companies to which we provide a service.
  • Possess strong written skills with numerical and computer literacy - including strong spread sheet skills with Excel plus Word, Lotus Notes and Invest One Enterprise.
  • An excellent knowledge of the FCA regulations that impact Unit Trusts, OEICs , CIF, CAIF and ACSs (COLL & FUND), and of the Investment Association SORP.
