Business Analyst

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

We are seeking a highly sophisticated, detail-oriented

Technical Business Analyst

to join our strategic delivery team. This role is a critical technical-business hybrid, designed for a professional who can navigate the complexities of data engineering while maintaining a firm grasp on project management lifecycles.

The successful candidate will act as the primary engine for digital transformation, taking ownership of the analytical lifecycle from initial requirement elicitation to the final delivery of complex, data-driven business intelligence solutions. This position requires a candidate with high-level quantitative rigor--underpinned by a strong mathematical foundation--to ensure that all business decisions are backed by statistically sound modeling and accurate data architecture.

Responsibilities

1. Advanced Requirements Engineering & Documentation

Discovery & Elicitation:

Lead the end-to-end discovery phase for high-impact business initiatives by facilitating structured workshops and technical interviews with cross-functional stakeholders.

Technical Specification:

Translate high-level, often ambiguous business needs into exhaustive Business Requirement Documents and Functional Specification Documents.

Agile Methodology:

Develop and manage detailed User Stories and Acceptance Criteria, ensuring the development team has a clear, technically viable roadmap for execution.

Gap Analysis:

Perform rigorous "As-Is" vs. "To-Be" analysis to identify operational deficiencies and propose technical architectures that align with long-term organizational goals.

2. Business Intelligence

Database Mining:

Engineer and execute Structured Query Language to extract, manipulate, and validate data from multi-relational databases, ensuring absolute data integrity for executive-level reporting.

Dashboard Development:

Architect and deploy automated, interactive Power BI and Tableau dashboards.

Advanced Modeling:

Utilize DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query to build sophisticated data models that track project burn-down rates, budget variances, and real-time resource utilization.

Statistical Validation:

Apply statistical methods to interpret large datasets, identifying trends and variances that inform the organization's strategic forecasting and risk mitigation plans.

3. Process Re-engineering & Optimization

Workflow Modeling:

Design and document sophisticated business process architectures using BPMN 2.0 standards to improve transparency and operational throughput.

Efficiency Auditing:

Conduct comprehensive audits of existing project delivery lifecycles to identify technical bottlenecks, recommending automation solutions that drive a minimum of 15-20% gain in efficiency.

Lifecycle Management:

Maintain deep involvement throughout the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) to ensure that the technical build remains strictly aligned with the documented business logic.

4. Project Governance, Risk & Quality Assurance

Quantitative Risk Assessment:

Utilize Quantitative Risk Assessment techniques to identify potential threats to project timelines and budgets, providing data-backed mitigation strategies.

UAT Orchestration:

Lead the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phase, defining test cases and success metrics to ensure that all deliverables meet the highest standards of quality and functionality before deployment.

Performance Tracking:

Define and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure project benefits are realized and business value is consistently delivered.

Skills & Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst or equivalent role. Master's degree specifically in Project Management with Data Analytics or a highly quantitative field. Demonstrable expert-level proficiency in Structured Query Language (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and Power BI/Tableau (including advanced DAX). Proven ability to map complex business processes using BPMN 2.0 and tools such as MS Visio or Lucidchart. Expert-level skills in producing technical documentation and managing requirements within Agile/Scrum environments.

Desirable Skills:

Familiarity with Python (specifically Pandas and NumPy) for advanced data manipulation. Experience using SPSS or R for statistical validation and predictive modeling. Previous exposure to project management software such as Jira, Confluence, or MS Project.
