The Met Office is delighted to open our advertising for Industrial Placements 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Met Office on a 12-month Year in Industry placement, commencing at the start of July 2026, developing your skills and knowledge and ensuring you gain the most value possible from your experience with us.
You will have the opportunity to network with our cohort of Industrial Placements all over the Met Office and understand what career opportunities are on offer at the Met Office after you graduate.

As our Business Assurance Industrial Placement 2026, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work. As an Industrial Placement, we would expect you to attend the office once a week as a minimum.

Our Industrial Placement scheme offers ambitious and capable undergraduates the opportunity to gain valuable experience working alongside diverse and highly skilled experts in their field. You'll be working on projects that really matter and will make a difference.
The Business Assurance Industrial Placement sits within Markets Central Office. Our team's purpose is to provide the support, guidance, and insights to enable the wider Markets Team to successfully deliver our shared purpose statement: Trade our propositions with consumers, coordinate engagement with stakeholders and champion the voice of the customer within the organisation.
Your key duties
Support process reviews and documentation
Assist in creation and management of business metrics
Create and maintain dashboards using PowerBI to inform Senior Leadership Team and wider directorate
Assist in development of Directorate Assurance training scheme
Support the Directorate Business Continuity plan
Person specification
Essential Criteria, skills and experience:
Competent in the use of Office 365 including PowerBI, Excel (intermediate user as a minimum), Word, SharePoint and Teams (Expert by nature).
Ability to explore requirements and information that aids decision makers in support of a desired outcome (Live and breathe it).
Curiosity, attention to detail and drive to make a positive difference to how we operate (Force for good).
Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with others (Better together).
Demonstrate the self-management of your development and how you apply your learning (Keep evolving).
