Vattenfall is a European energy company with approximately 21 000 employees. For more than 100 years we have electrified industries, supplied energy to people's homes and modernised our way of living through innovation and cooperation. We are looking for talented individuals who, in addition to their passion for their own role, also have strong team spirit and want to contribute to supporting a meaningful corporate mission.
Are you passionate about decarbonisation and excited by the opportunity to apply analytical thinking to support business growth? Are you curious, highly organised and process-oriented, with a talent for uncovering new opportunities through research? Do you want to be part of an ambitious and collaborative team working to decarbonise one of the UK's most forward-thinking cities? If so, we'd love to hear from you.
Main Purpose of Role:
This role sits within the Business Development team in Bristol, which is focused on driving the growth of Vattenfall's heat network across the city as part of Bristol City Leap. The network is a key component in Bristol's efforts to reach net zero, and we are looking for a motivated individual to help identify, assess and prioritise opportunities to expand the network and engage with the right stakeholders.
The Business Development Analyst will play a central role in researching and analysing growth opportunities, with a particular focus on understanding the local built environment, identifying target building types, spotting pipeline developments via planning portals and profiling building owners with strong decarbonisation or 'green' agendas.
You'll also play a key part in improving and streamlining our internal processes and systems - ensuring the business development function is efficient, data-driven and well-documented. The role offers a unique chance to combine research, analysis, process improvement and stakeholder engagement to support the growth of sustainable infrastructure.
Key responsibilities:
Lead research and target identification:
Proactively research and map potential leads and developments using planning portals, land and property databases, and local intelligence.
Identify priority building types and owners (e.g., large residential blocks, public buildings, commercial properties) likely to benefit from connecting to the heat network.
Develop and maintain a pipeline of opportunities with supporting data and insights.
Monitor policy changes, planning applications and developments to identify emerging sales opportunities.
Process Improvement:
Support the development and refinement of tools, templates and procedures to increase efficiency within the business development team.
Analyse the sales pipeline and team workflows to identify and implement improvements.
Contribute to data management and reporting processes, ensuring records are accurate and accessible.
Sales and stakeholder engagement support:
Work alongside business development managers to develop and manage key accounts and track engagement.
Prepare materials and data to support client conversations and internal decision-making.
Support the organisation and follow-up of stakeholder meetings and marketing activity.
Research stakeholders impacted by construction activities
Data and systems management:
Use and help manage CRM systems and GIS tools to record, track and report on leads and opportunities.
Assist with documentation, data entry and reporting to support forecasting and performance tracking.
Team support:
Assist the team with organisational and administrative duties, such as managing team meetings, arranging site visits, preparing other materials and information and procuring services.
Qualifications
A strong interest in decarbonisation, sustainability and the built environment.
Excellent research and analytical skills - able to find, evaluate and summarise complex information.
Great attention to detail and highly organised - comfortable working with data and documentation.
A proactive and curious mindset, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
Good communication skills - written and verbal - for internal collaboration and external engagement.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; familiarity with CRM systems and GIS tools is a bonus (training will be provided).
Experience in administration, research or project support - ideally in a business development, property or infrastructure context.
