About The Role:




Overview





We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Director to lead our growth in the Solar PV and Battery Storage sectors. This strategic role will focus on identifying new market opportunities, developing partnerships, and securing high-value contracts for solar and energy storage solutions across commercial, industrial, and public sector clients.



The successful candidate will bring deep sector knowledge, a strong network, and a proven track record of delivering complex renewable energy projects from concept to close.


Key Responsibilities




Strategic Market Development




Define and implement business development strategies for Solar PV and Battery Storage solutions. Identify emerging markets, funding opportunities, and regulatory incentives to drive growth. Lead go-to-market planning for new products and services.

Sales & Commercial Leadership




Generate and qualify leads, manage the sales pipeline, and close deals with new and existing clients. Develop compelling proposals, financial models, and presentations tailored to client needs. Negotiate commercial terms and contracts in collaboration with legal and commercial teams.

Client & Partner Engagement




Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, developers, EPCs, technology providers, and funding partners. Represent OCS at industry events, conferences, and networking forums.

Project Development Support




Collaborate with technical and delivery teams to ensure feasibility, design, and execution of proposed solutions. Support due diligence, risk assessment, and investment case development for large-scale projects.

Market Intelligence & Innovation




Stay abreast of industry trends, policy developments, and technological advancements. Champion innovation in solar and storage technologies, including smart grid integration and innovative business models.



Essential Hiring Criteria:




Knowledge & Expertise




Deep understanding of Solar PV systems, battery storage technologies, and grid integration. Familiarity with UK energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and subsidy schemes (e.g., CfDs, SEG, DSR, flexibility markets).

Skills




Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience with project finance and investment models. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Strategic thinker with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive business outcomes.

Education & Experience




Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business, or a related field. Minimum 8-10 years of experience in business development or sales leadership roles within the renewable energy sector. Proven track record of securing and delivering multi-million-pound solar and/or battery storage projects.



Desirable Attributes




Professional certifications (e.g., MCS, IET, NABCEP, PRINCE2). Experience with public sector procurement and funding mechanisms. Passion for sustainability and the energy transition.
