We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and commercially driven Business Development Director to lead our growth initiatives across the UK market. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving new business across three core verticals: Freight (Air, Ocean, Road), Contract Logistics (Warehousing & Distribution) and Digital Supply Chain Services. You will develop and execute a robust commercial strategy that aligns with company goals, lead high-value sales engagements, and forge long-term relationships with key clients. This role demands deep market insight, strong leadership, and a track record in closing multi-million-pound contracts within logistics or supply chain environments.

Duties include but not limited to:



Strategic Leadership Define and implement a comprehensive business development strategy focused on Freight and Contract Logistics Lead market analysis and identify growth opportunities in key sectors and verticals including Retail, FMCG, Industrial, Pharma and eCommerce Collaborate with executive leadership on long-term business planning, market expansion, and competitive.
Sales & Commercial Growth

Drive new business opportunities across core services (Freight forwarding, warehousing, digital logistics solutions). Lead and close medium, large, complex deals, including tender management, commercial negotiations, and contract finalisation. Develop sector-specific value propositions that integrate physical and digital logistics services.
Client Relationship Management

Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key clients, prospects, and stakeholders. Represent the company at industry forums, client meetings, trade shows, and networking events. Ensure customer satisfaction and retention through tailored logistics solutions and proactive account support.
Cross-functional Collaboration

Work closely with Operations, Solutions Design, IT, HR and Finance teams to ensure customer requirements are accurately scoped and delivered. Partner with Marketing to support brand positioning, lead generation, and targeted campaigns.
Team & Leadership

Lead and mentor the Business Development team, setting performance goals and KPIs. Support recruitment and training of commercial staff to strengthen organisational capabilities.

Skills and experience required:



Extensive experience in business development or commercial roles within the logistics/supply chain industry. Proven success in selling logistics solutions in the UK. Strong network of industry contacts, especially in verticals such as retail, consumer goods, technology, and manufacturing. Experience leading large-scale commercial negotiations and winning multi-million-pound contracts. Strong understanding of UK logistics market trends, regulatory environment, and competitive dynamics.
Skills & Competencies:

Commercial acumen with strategic and analytical thinking. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Customer-centric approach with strong influencing capabilities. Leadership ability to drive high-performance teams and foster a collaborative culture. Familiarity with CRM systems, tender platforms, and sales analytics tools. Understanding of digital logistics platforms, Freight, WMS, and supply chain automation.
KPIs & Performance Metrics:

New business revenue targets. Pipeline growth and conversion rate. Client retention and satisfaction. Gross margin performance by vertical Strategic account wins and contract tenure
