As a Business Development Executive, you'll take ownership of new business sales. You'll be selling
TrackTrade
, our flagship job management platform, to trade businesses across the UK. The role involves generating leads, running demos and closing your own deals. It also involves working to targets, maintaining excellent CRM hygiene, and managing a pipeline.
It's an exciting, varied, and rewarding role where initiative and self-direction are encouraged and ideas are welcomed. There is opportunity for travel across the UK to meet clients (expenses covered), along with a generous results-driven commission (uncapped).
Responsibilities
Lead Generation & Prospecting
Cold calling senior executives and decision makers
Meeting prospects on site - in particular, building & trades companies in the Glasgow area
Maintaining high-quality outbound activity: calls, emails, site visits, LinkedIn (~50+ touchpoints per day)
Building and maintain your own pipeline
Qualifying prospects with relevant discovery questions
Exciting and educating relevant businesses about our solution
Book high-quality demos with engaged prospects (not time-wasters or "info@" inboxes)
Running Demos & Managing Negotiations
Achieving high demo attendance rates (80% or greater) by qualifying properly upfront
Rooting the entire demonstration in the customer's pains
Tailoring demos to the client's world, keeping them concise and outcome-driven
Navigating commercial conversations with confidence and a focus on ROI
Identifying stakeholders, objections and barriers to sale.
Arranging meaningful next steps that maximise impulse and drive deals forward
Preparing proposals and sending out timely, relevant follow-up materials
Rollout of New Clients
Stay close to deals to ensure smooth onboarding
Arrange and carry out software training for new clients
Travel to clients (expenses covered) to ensure smooth system handover
Be available for support queries during the initial implementation
Build excellent relationships to cultivate referrals
Product and Industry Knowledge
Understand the problems our clients face and why they're painful
Become an expert in TrackTrade so you can sell confidently
Develop familiarity with industry language and competitors
Become well-versed in common objections and challenges
Reporting & CRM Management
Keep accurate notes and maintain excellent CRM hygiene (HubSpot)
Track pipeline stages and update activities daily
Report progress to the MD weekly and at monthly sales meetings
Professionalism
Represent TrackTrade professionally on calls, in person and online
Do not misrepresent the software or the business
Arrive for meetings, demonstrations and rollouts on time and well-prepared
Be mindful of GDPR when handling any client data

Requirements
We're looking for someone who:
Has the background
Preferably 2 years of relevant work experience (outbound B2B sales)
Phone sales experience calling senior execs
Confident opening cold conversations and closing warm ones
Able to sell to business owners, office managers, site managers -- real-world people who don't waffle
Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and persuasively both on the phone and in person
Proficient with basic business tools -- Outlook, Excel, CRM systems like HubSpot
Software sales experience preferred but NOT essential
Has the mindset
Understand this is NOT an inbound marketing funnel -- it's outbound, targeted, and hands-on
Know how to build a pipeline without hand-holding
Outgoing, resilient and professional
You treat sales as a craft - you're reflective, focused and always looking to improve your pitch
Is local enough to be part of our team
Based in or near Glasgow
