Under the leadership of the Director of Business Development & Marketing (BD & M), the department provides a broad range of support to the wider firm across Business Development, Bids, Marketing, Communications and Events, comprising 18 members in total.
The Role
This maternity cover role focuses on delivering a high-quality BD and marketing service to specific sector groups, particularly Social Housing and Local Government. You'll work closely with key partners to lead the BD&M strategy, client development and sales, contributing to the firm's profile and reputation. This is a hands-on role within a busy team of specialists dedicated to client relationships, business growth, and maintaining our position as go-to advisors.
Key areas of activity will include leading the BD strategy, analysing client and sector performance, budgeting and reporting on spend. You will also be responsible for overseeing marketing campaigns, thought leadership and a full events programme to raise the firm's visibility and generate leads.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Campaigns
Develop and deliver strategic sector plans and propositions
Monitoring, budgeting and reporting on performance, activity, pipeline and revenue
Launch new business lines and products, delivering key messages and develop campaign calendars
Drive strategic campaigns and communications, including digital content and performance tracking
Client & Account Management
Focus on top clients through target setting and strategic action plans
Manage sales accounts and opportunities, including market horizon scanning and CRM updates
Produce financial and client account reports to analyse client performance data and advise on Social Housing and Local Government sector performance and strategy
Bids, Directories & Onboarding
Collaborate with the bids team on client mobilisation and onboarding
Ensure sectors and services are appropriately represented in marketing rankings, including leading the directory submissions for the Social Housing and Local Government sectors to deadline
Marketing & Events
Create tactical and strategic marketing plans to support sector goals and relationship building
Oversee production of marketing materials and thought leadership content
Develop and oversee the sector events calendar to enhance brand visibility and lead generation
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building
Develop strong relationships with senior stakeholders and build relationships as a trusted advisor, based on a thorough understanding of the sectors and services in which we operate
Support fee earners in developing personal brands and capabilities
Manage relationships with key industry contacts and external bodies
Build relationships with external partners to develop the brand
Internal Collaboration & Leadership
Lead monthly sector meetings and track progress against targets
Contribute to firm-wide BD projects
Champion OnePlace, our client relationship and analytics hub
Supervise and develop junior members of the BD&M team to ensure quality of delivery
Experience
The ideal candidate will be an experienced BD professional from a legal or professional services background, with:
