Hamilton Waste & Recycling is a leading waste management and recycling business operating across Scotland. We work closely with construction, infrastructure, commercial and industrial clients, delivering compliant, reliable and sustainable waste solutions.

We are looking to strengthen our Construction & Demolition sales team with either:

- an experienced Business Development / Sales professional, or

- a junior sales candidate with relevant construction, waste or commercial experience who is keen to develop into a full BDM role.

This role will work alongside an established small construction sales team, focusing on profitable growth, customer retention, and high service standards across West and East Scotland.

Key Objectives

- Win and develop profitable construction-sector business

- Manage and grow a portfolio of existing customers

- Promote Hamilton Waste & Recycling as a trusted, compliant partner

- Work closely with operations, transport, compliance and admin teams to ensure delivery

- Meet agreed sales targets aligned to margin and quality of revenue, not just volume

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

- Identify and develop new construction and C&D opportunities across the region

- Manage relationships with builders, developers, contractors and brokers

- Provide realistic, cost-aware pricing aligned with operational capability

- Attend customer meetings and site visits where required

- Track and progress opportunities from enquiry through to live account

- Monitor competitor activity and identify opportunities to win work

Account Management

- Maintain and grow existing customer accounts

- Ensure customer satisfaction and resolve issues in conjunction with operations

- Communicate price changes clearly and maintain written acceptance

- Support retention through regular contact and proactive account management

Reporting & Targets

- Work to agreed sales target

- Provide regular pipeline and activity updates

- Maintain accurate records of pricing, agreements and communications

- Contribute to forecasting and budgeting where required

Compliance & Collaboration

- Ensure waste streams are correctly described and priced

- Work in line with environmental legislation and company procedures

- Follow all site safety and operational requirements

- Communicate effectively with all departments

Junior Development Path (where applicable)

For junior candidates, full training will be provided including:

- Waste streams, disposal routes and legislation

- Pricing models and margin awareness

- Construction-sector customer requirements

- Systems, reporting and internal processes

You will be supported to develop into a full Business Development Manager role over time.

Skills & Experience

Essential

- Background in sales, construction, waste, logistics or a related sector

- Strong communication and relationship-building skills

- Organised, proactive and commercially aware

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Comfortable working to targets and KPIs

- Full UK driving licence

Desirable

- Experience in waste management or construction sales

- Knowledge of skip hire, C&D waste, or trade waste

- Understanding of margin-based selling (not just volume)

- Familiarity with CRM or sales reporting tools
