The Events Company is an event management agency based in Redditch, south of Birmingham. We have been creating, managing and delivering events for over 20 years across the UK and Europe. We work with a large variety of clients and deliver a wide array of events from conferences, gala dinners and award ceremonies to team building and corporate fun days.
The Role
We are seeking a creative Business Development Manager with a proven track record in sales who is self-motivated and can proactively seek business opportunities to drive revenue growth.
Working alongside the sales team you will develop a strategic plan that is aligned with our business objectives and seek new opportunities, build and maintain existing relationships, attend industry events to generate leads and develop strategic partnerships to enhance the company's market presence.
Key Responsibilities
Management & Leadership
: As part of the senior leadership team this position will involve implementing strategic decisions within the organisation to achieve growth plans, budget planning, and setting targets.
Market Research & Analysis
: The role involves conducting market research to identify trends, demands, and growth opportunities. It requires analysing the competitive landscape to find gaps aligning with the company's goals. Using data-driven insights to develop business strategies and inform decisions is crucial for driving growth and success.
Client Relation Management
: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with existing clients, ensuring satisfaction and loyalty by identifying and engaging with potential clients, understanding their needs, and aligning them with our services and products, acting as the primary point of contact for key clients, addressing concerns, and providing solutions to meet their business objectives.
Strategic Partnerships
: Identify and establish strategic partnerships with industry leaders and key stakeholders to expand the company's market reach, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align partnership initiatives with overall business goals, and negotiating terms and agreements with partners to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.
Business Development Initiatives
: Develop and implement business development strategies to drive revenue growth and market expansion by identifying new business opportunities and creating detailed plans to achieve growth targets, while leading and managing business development projects from conception through to completion, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
Sales & Revenue Generation
: Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets. Drive the sales process from lead generation to closing deals, ensuring a high conversion rate. Collaborate with the sales team to identify and pursue high-value opportunities.
Tender Process
: This position is instrumental in taking the project lead in collaborating with sales and other internal stakeholders to identify and seek new business opportunities and presentations that differentiate us from our competitors that highlights the company's capabilities to deliver the client's vision.
Collaboration & Communication
: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including creative, operations and logistics, finance, suppliers, and venues to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of events. Maintain open and transparent communication channels to facilitate teamwork and alignment across departments.
Networking with Suppliers and Venues
: Proactively network with suppliers and venues to build and maintain relationships. Identify potential partners, negotiate favourable terms and agreements, and collaborate closely to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of events.
Reporting & Performance Tracking
: Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of business development initiatives. This includes preparing and presenting regular reports to senior management on business development activities and outcomes. Utilize performance metrics to continuously refine and improve business strategies.
The Ideal Candidate
At least 3-5 years account management experience.
A degree in event management preferable.
Full clean driving license.
Smart and presentable.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritise, and meet deadlines under pressure.
Be able to work leading a team or as part of a team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, event management software
Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed.
