Hereford BID is seeking a confident, determined, organised, and people-focused professional to lead our flagship projects, strengthen relationships with city centre businesses, and deliver real results for Hereford. The ideal candidate will have a combination of transferable skills including sales working from a busy office.
This varied, customer-facing role puts you at the heart of our Business Plan -- working with BID Levy Payers, Police, shopping centres, and other key partners. You'll lead on initiatives such as the
DISC Security App
,
Hereford Gift Card
, and
Outdoor Events
, while keeping our health and safety practices up to date.
What you'll do:
Visit businesses regularly to promote services and boost engagement
Lead and grow our flagship projects - DISC/ Gift Card/ Live Music Events
Monitor/drive business engagement across the team
Develop projects in line with our Business Plan
A Typical Day
Start with visits to around four businesses, checking in on their use of our Gift Card or DISC Security App. Along the way, you might gather content, suggest new consumer offers, and involve our marketing team to help promote them.
Afternoons could include meeting with the Police on anti-social behaviour issues, booking music performers for summer events, or checking equipment for upcoming activities. You'll finish by reviewing security app reports, planning follow-ups, and updating your objectives. Occasionally, you'll work late to support evening-only businesses, taking your time back.

Job Purpose
To liaise with businesses and manage/ deliver a range of projects outlined in the Hereford BID Business Plan
Key Responsibilities
Business Engagement & Service Delivery
Lead, run, and grow participation in flagship BID services, including Outdoor Events, the Hereford Gift Card, and the DISC Security App, by proactively engaging with businesses and stakeholders.
Promote BID initiatives, inform stakeholders of our work, and seek ways to support them through BID services.
Systematically self-organise and prioritise work to maximise business engagement.
Crime Reduction & Security
Develop and promote the BID's crime reduction service, including the DISC app, to levy-paying businesses
Confidently explain the benefits and functionality of DISC, sign up and train users, and encourage active participation.
Identifying and target shoplifters etc. with awareness campaigns
Develop and grow our shop banning scheme
Project & Event Coordination
Plan, lead, and coordinate events, including staging, PA systems, and other equipment.
Act as a steward at events and promotions (e.g. Christmas, Easter), occasionally working outside normal hours.
Develop and deliver an annual street entertainment programme, ensuring quality and compliance.
Work in the city centre every other Saturday (May-September), often independently, to manage performances and equipment.
Operational & Administrative Support
Keep accurate records of projects as directed by the CEO, including KPI monitoring.
Conduct risk assessments for all events and ensure documentation is maintained.
Check and maintain equipment, ensuring safety, security, and readiness for events.
Person Specification
Essential Experience & Knowledge
Highly organised with the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Confident in liaising with businesses and building strong relationships.
Comfortable communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
Educated to at least A-level or with equivalent workplace experience.
GCSE qualifications in English and Mathematics at grade C or above.
Proven track record in project management and organisation.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Understanding of health and safety, particularly for outdoor events.
Desirable Experience & Knowledge
Sales skills.
Knowledge of issues affecting town and city centres.
Experience with Mailchimp, Adobe, and Canva (or similar software).
