We are pleased to offer an exciting developmental opportunity for a motivated individual to work with our dynamic and developing HR system. The Human Resources teams are responsible for supporting managers and staff in connection to all aspects of employment. We work across the University group and our activities support the People strand of the University's Strategic Plan.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Business Information Officer will be based in the HR Information System Team and supports the HR System (MHR iTrent) by writing reports, configuration, testing and training of any new functionality. You will provide consistent and proactive technical advice to users of the HR System and to conduct initial diagnosis of issues that may arise from the team's inbox. Where needed you will also liaise with the HR System supplier, MHR Global.
You will create complex reports from the HR System to ensure data integrity, quality and completeness are being adhered to and also support with the preparation of both internal and statutory reporting including UCEA, HESA, and financial year end reports.
Responsibility for updating and maintaining reference data within the HR System falls within this remit. You'll also assist with new system development including conducting gap analysis, testing upgrades and supporting the creation, development and deployment of new functionality to University stakeholders. You will support colleagues from across the University to get the best out of the HR System.
Skills and experience required
This role requires previous experience of using, designing, developing and extracting data from large database systems, ideally within HR. You will have experience of report writing using a tool such as Business Objects, and strong analytical skills to be able to process and present complex data. Experience of using Microsoft products is essential, and SQL knowledge and / or experience would be an advantage. The successful applicant should have strong administrative or office experience and training or coaching experience would be an advantage.
Effective team working is key to this post. You'll have excellent communication skills and be highly numerate. The role needs strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and you'll be able to work accurately under pressure whilst able to prioritise and demonstrate organisational capabilities. A high standard of customer service is essential, and you will be proactive and solutions-oriented in your approach.
Qualifications required
You will either hold a degree level qualification or higher (ideally in Business, Human Resources or Computer Science) or demonstrate substantial proven equivalent experience.
