About Billericay BID
The Billericay business community voted in favour of a 5 year BID, which will deliver benefits to all the town's businesses. Crucially, it's about giving businesses of all sizes a uniformed voice. Your Billericay plan to use the levies paid to support a number of projects, and aims to deliver improvement through four main pillars:
B for Billericay - celebrating strengths. Promoting and showcasing the area
A for Activity - more things to do. Community events and family-focussed activities
N for Navigation - getting around easily. Parking, transport, wayfinding, green travel options and signage
G for Growth - developing the local economy. Improving the trading environment, networking, creating opportunity and promoting collaboration.
The Role
Your Billericay are looking for a self-starting, motivated individual with the ability to manage the delivery of the Billericay BID. Working closely with the Board (made up of volunteer business owners and representatives based within the BID area), the successful candidate will need to manage the day-to-day delivery of BID activities, while also working strategically to drive the business plan forward.
This exciting role will require the successful candidate to effectively manage relationships with many different stakeholders, from private sector business owners to local organisations and public agencies.
The role involves
providing day-to-day leadership and management of the BID, ensuring the implementation of the BID Business Plan and the delivery of BID projects
managing the development, planning, monitoring and financial elements of projects, events and activities
acting as the first point of contact for levy payers, stakeholders and the media
co-ordinating marketing and events, developing a calendar of activities to support levy payers and drive footfall to the town
procuring the assistance of consultants and agencies where necessary to ensure efficiency and maximise outcomes
providing support and leadership to delivery staff and contractors to ensure that services and projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard
working with the BID Board as well as businesses and key stakeholders, agencies and service providers, to deliver the strategic vision and development plan of the BID within the wider economic context for the area
ensuring services and projects meet the changing needs of levy payers through the 5 year term, placing the BID Board in a strong position for successful renewal ballots
Our ideal candidate
Our ideal candidate will have experience in project management, with a flare for organisation and communication. Excellent networking and relationship management skills are needed to work with a diverse set of partners.
Knowledge about both the private and public sector is helpful, and an awareness of local authority economic development policy would be beneficial. The candidate must be willing to work in Billericay (office based in High Street) and local knowledge/heritage is desirable. The hours are equivalent to 3 full days per week, with flexibility on how this is split.
Above all, we are looking for someone with passion and commitment to understanding and helping to solve issues facing the business community in Billericay. The Business Improvement District (BID) Manager will provide leadership and management, to deliver the BID vision and business plan, ensuring that the BID is promoted positively and that the reputation of both the BID and Billericay are maintained to the highest quality.
