To manage the Rob Burrow Centre for MND, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals living with Motor Neurone Disease. The post holder will oversee the multidisciplinary team and coordinate services. The role involves strategic planning, service development, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including charities such as MNDA and Leeds Hospital Charity Fund to improve outcomes for patients and their families. The post holder provides management support to the CSU or a component part of the CSU.
He/she will have responsibility for the performance of administrative and clerical staff and will ensure that services are delivered within budget to agreed quality standards and in accordance with agreed activity levels. The post holder will also work with members of their CSU and other senior managers in the strategic development of the services provided by the CSU. This will include strategic and operational business planning and monitoring, and the development of relationships with key internal and external partners. The post holder will ensure the CSU functions as an integral part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust and that CSU and Trust-wide objectives are achieved simultaneously.
Devolved responsibility for both pay and non pay budgets in the CSU Responsible for staff who may work Trust-wide across several disciplines and clinical specialties. Assist in the performance management of the Centre Line manage administrative, clerical and secretarial staff within the Centre, and take management responsibility for their personal development and performance review Responsible for the procurement of medical and scientific capital equipment Assist in the operational aspects of major service and capital planning Contribute to developing and sustaining capacity and capability in the Centre Lead specific project work on behalf of the Director of the Rob Burrow Centre Deputise for the Director of the Rob Burrow Centre, as directed Key Responsibilities Service Delivery and Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the MND Care Centre, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery. Develop and implement care pathways in line with national standards and best practices. Develop a holistic programme for therapies for patients and carers, working closely with the Leeds Hospitals Charity and the Hospital Volunteering Team Develop a childrens and young peoples programme with the family support worker for wellbeing and healing for patients, families and their carers.
Monitor and evaluate service performance, identifying areas for improvement. Act as a key point of contact for patients, families, and carers, providing support to access services at the centre via a dedicated email/telephone. Ensure smooth running of clinical work and MDTs at the Rob Burrow Centre. Ensure smooth running and support the development of a world class MND educational programme for patients and healthcare staff Support the MND research programme operating out of the Rob Burrow Centre for MND both locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Team Management Manage staff (e.g. receptionist, volunteers, porters etc.) Foster a positive and collaborative working environment. Ensure staff are compliant with mandatory training. Partnership Working: Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including charities such as the Leeds Hospitals Charity, Leeds Rhinos, the MND Association, social care providers, university, healthcare organisations, and external fundraisers.
Engage with community stakeholders on holistic aspects and social events for patients and families e.g. concerts, gardening days Quality and Governance: Ensure compliance with CQC standards, NHS policies, and legal requirements. Co-ordinate audits, research, and service evaluations to improve care quality. Manage risk and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed.
Management of security of the building. Financial and Resource Management: Manage the budget and resources of the MND Care Centre effectively. Identify opportunities for funding and resource allocation to support service development. Assist in applications for grant funding renewal.
