As a News Editor, you will oversee the editorial process, from story conception to publication, while maintaining adherence to AP style guidelines. Your role will involve collaborating with writers, photographers, and videographers to produce compelling news stories that engage our audience.
Responsibilities
Edit and proofread articles for clarity, grammar, and adherence to AP style.
Fact-check all content to ensure accuracy and reliability of information.
Collaborate with reporters to develop story ideas and provide guidance on research and writing.
Manage the editorial calendar and coordinate deadlines for submissions.
Oversee the production of multimedia content, including photography and video production.
Utilize social media platforms for story promotion and audience engagement.
Conduct regular meetings with the editorial team to discuss ongoing projects and provide feedback.
Ensure that all content aligns with the publication's voice and mission.
Skills
Proficient in AP style guidelines.
Strong editing skills with experience in proofreading and copy editing.
Excellent writing skills with a background in journalism or related fields.
Ability to conduct thorough research on various topics.
Familiarity with video production and videography techniques is a plus.
Experience in photography is desirable.
