As our Business Support Practitioner, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.
Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, but we would also consider applicants wishing to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and we will also try our best to consider those intending to work a job share. Whilst this is a temporary position for 18 months, there is potential for it to develop into a permanent position.

Your world of expertise
Joining our Services Central Office within the Strategic Analysis & Planning Team, you'll work closely with senior leaders, providing high quality secretariat, administrative (often complex) and logistical support to the senior managers and wider Directorate. You will champion new tools and processes to ensure improvements are made to administrative working practices, thus enhancing service delivery. You'll ensure effective management of information, providing advice and recommendations to the senior leadership team who can then use that information to make certain decisions.
Your work will combine regular tasks and a set of lead responsibilities, which could be a specific subject area and/or a specific activity within the Directorate, and you'll provide cover for other colleagues in the team as necessary.
Your key duties
As our Business Support Practitioner, you will primarily provide support to the Warnings & Guidance teams within Weather Impacts & Advice, including:
Updating and monitoring risk and issues logs, providing support to Head.
Maintaining and updating SharePoint and Comms sites, as well as teams' channels, ensuring efficient and effective communication.
Financial support such as reconciling invoices and raising purchase orders.
Managing and co-ordinating leave and training requests across the teams.
Co-ordinate roster writing across the teams.
Managing and co-ordinating regular meetings, providing support where needed and ensuring communication is cascaded.

As our Business Support Practitioner, your total reward package will be up to 38,280 annually, which includes:
26,954 base pay.
An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%.
Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave.
