BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance - this post is subject to BPSS checks. Casual Car Documentation- The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.
The Housing Compliance and Enforcement Team sits within the Compliance and Enforcement Service in Manchester and carries out regulatory work across a breadth of private sector housing activities. The main aim of the team is to regulate the private rented sector. If you're successful, you'll join a team of Housing Enforcement professionals, you will be managing a small team of Business Support Officers, whose administrative role is to process all licensing applications, including checking the application is complete, checking all documentation is compliant, undertaking ownerships checks, considering fit and proper person requirements, sending out letters, issuing licences, ensuring payments are correct and communicating and advising property landlords on contentious matters.
The role holder will efficiently manage business support staff in order to meet and raise service standards to achieve agreed business priorities, objectives and locality service/team plans, in alignment with corporate strategies, policies and regulations.

About the Candidate
We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Business Support Team Lead to join our Housing Enforcement team. This is a leadership role where you'll be responsible for guiding and supporting a dynamic team, ensuring high standards of performance and service delivery.

Proven experience in leading and motivating teams.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Confidence in applying performance management techniques and supporting staff development.
Comfortable working with data and generating reports to support operational needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Essential requirements for the role:
Knowledge and experience of using administrative IT systems to oversee and ensure effective service delivery.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
Willingness to gain the required knowledge of legislation relevant to housing licensing schemes under the Housing Act 2004, associated regulations, guidance, and local policies.

Desirable requirements that would be useful in this role: It's desirable that candidates have experience of the following systems- SAP, Academy, REASON, Experian/NAFN and ARCUS.
and/pr previous relevant experience in housing compliance and or property licensing.
