Balfour Beatty is proud to be delivering the BBNP ASTI Project based in Elgin, a new 400kV Overhead Line from Beauly to Peterhead - the largest project of its kind in the UK. You will be working to lead and deliver complex works that really matters to our business, and the world around you!
Our Team is currently working on a vast project portfolio which is reshaping the entire energy sector in Scotland, with a focus on securing the UK's future energy security and net zero ambitions.

This role will require occasional travel to the BBNP ASTI Project based in Elgin.
What you'll be doing
As a
Buyer
, you will have the following accountabilities:
To update and manage Procurement Strategies for the BBNP ASTI Project as part of the overall Scotland Power T&D business.
To create, update and manage Procurement Schedules for the BBNP ASTI Project on a day-to-day basis.
To expedite key materials to site.
Preparation of request for proposals and quotations.
Manage key supply chain risks.
Carrying out supplier evaluations for designated procurement exercises.
Conducting negotiations to enable the shortlisting of suppliers, for designated procurement exercises.
Leading and/or supporting final negotiations with selected suppliers.
Preparing orders in accordance with BB Power T&D procurement governance where required.
Monitor the supply market to identify potential new suppliers and products and meet with suppliers to understand their products.
Focus on exceeding minimum service expectations by delivering an agile, value adding service with a deep understanding of customer requirements, technical competence, functional knowledge, and process efficiency.
Establish performance led supplier relationships focusing on value for money, service & product quality, and continuous improvement to drive competitive advantage
Who we're looking for
You will have the following: Previous experience of procurement processes within a utilities related environment including working with both materials suppliers and subcontractors.
A proven track record in negotiation and process compliance.
Experience in strategic procurement and project scheduling.
Subcontract procurement and Commercial awareness, specifically NEC3 & 4.
Excellent analytical skills, strong commercial awareness, a measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value procurement.
The ability to adopt a pragmatic, yet disciplined approach to process compliance, is essential
MCIPS or an interest in studying towards MCIPS is advantageous.
