37 hours per week, Monday - Thursday (08:00 - 16:30), Friday (08:00 - 13:30)

Salary:

Up to 34,000, dependent on experience

About the role



As a

Buyer

, you'll take ownership of managing and controlling our external outwork suppliers (indirect procurement), focusing on processes such as heat treatment through to machining. You'll work with a large supplier base and have the autonomy to strengthen relationships, improve efficiencies, and drive commercial performance.

This role is more than just managing orders--it's about shaping partnerships and influencing strategy. You'll have the chance to make a real difference while receiving full training and support, including the potential for

fully funded CIPS accreditation

What you'll be doing:



Managing relationships with external outwork suppliers from start to finish.

Raising and maintaining purchase requisitions and orders with clear requirements. Driving cost and time-saving initiatives to support lean processes. Monitoring supplier performance and ensuring On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery. Supporting Sales & Marketing with sourcing and quotations for outwork services. Maintaining accurate records and resolving invoice queries promptly. Promoting health, safety, and environmental improvements within your area.

Who we're looking for:



You'll bring strong organisational skills and proven negotiation ability, with existing experience in Procurement or Supply Chain or a keen interest in building a career within this function.

Requirements include:

Excellent negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships. Proven experience in managing supplier relationships (direct or indirect). Where this experience is not present, candidates must demonstrate transferable skills and relevant experience a commercial or operational environment. Exposure to engineering or manufacturing environments (highly desirable) or a genuine interest in engineering and our products. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective engagement with suppliers and internal teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) Experience with ERP systems (desirable). Ability to travel to site and reside within a commutable distance to work on-site 5 days per week.
