Construction Buyer
to join our procurement team.
Role Overview:
The Construction Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, components, and services specifically for off-site and modular building projects. You'll work closely with the design, manufacturing, and site delivery teams to ensure that procurement aligns with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Source, negotiate, and procure materials, fixtures, components used in modular construction (e.g., truss systems, MEP systems, internal fit-outs)
Source, negotiate, and procure services such as cranes, scaffolding, modular transport and waste removal.
Develop and manage supplier relationships, ensuring reliable delivery and cost-efficiency
Work closely with design and production teams to align procurement with modular design specifications
Monitor market trends and material costs to anticipate supply issues or opportunities
Implement cost-saving strategies without compromising on quality
Maintain procurement schedules and ensure on-time delivery to factory and site locations
Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and sustainability requirements
Evaluate supplier performance and update preferred supplier lists
Requirements:
Proven experience in a buying/procurement role within the construction industry.
Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and supply chains
Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Strong organisational and planning abilities with attention to detail
Proficient in procurement and software
Relevant qualifications in procurement, supply chain management, construction, or engineering would be advantageous.
