We now have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated Buyer to join our Procurement team.
You will be working on a full time, permanent basis, 40 hours per week between the hours of 09:00am and 18.00pm (1 Hr unpaid break)
You will receive a competitive salary between 30,000 and 33,000 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a detail oriented and strategic Buyer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services that align with our Company's operational needs. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain dynamics, effective negotiation skills, and proficiency in various ERP systems to ensure efficient procurement processes.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimise procurement efficiency
Ensure all assigned product categories meet or exceed planned performance and availability targets
Plan and schedule stock in line with Company guidelines
Manage supplier relationships, including performance monitoring and quality issue resolution
Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best pricing, rebates, and settlement discounts
Maintain accurate and up to date product files, purchase costs, and delivery schedules
Oversee order progress, critical stock levels, and redundant/slow-moving stock campaigns
Source and manage special or non stocked products
Provide regular updates and reports to management
Skills
Minimum 3 years' experience as a Buyer, ideally within manufacturing, engineering, or industrial sectors
Excellent negotiation and communication skills
Strong organisational and planning abilities
High attention to detail and accuracy
Proficiency in purchasing or ERP systems
A proactive approach to problem solving and decision making
Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C / Level 4 or above
Experience in the steel industry or with steel-related products is highly desirable
