About the role



Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Buyer will play a key role in sourcing, purchasing, and negotiating construction materials, equipment, and services to support our projects and ensure seamless operations. Obtaining optimal terms and conditions, including rebates, etc., will form a key part of this role. This role will be based at our Head office in Dalry, Ayrshire.

Key roles and responsibilities include;

Identify, source, and procure construction materials, equipment, and services needed for ongoing and upcoming projects. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate favourable terms and agreements. Collaborate with site managers, surveyors and other stakeholders to develop cost-effective procurement strategies. Active participation in team meetings, end-of-contract reviews, supplier performance reviews, and site visits. Assisting in the process of timely and accurate scheduling of orders and materials per site requirements, procurement tracker/programme, enabling orders to be placed on time. Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records to ensure adequate stock levels for ongoing projects. Progressing invoice queries in a timely fashion in liaison with the accounts function and other disciplines as appropriate, ensuring trends are identified and corrective action taken. Ensure schedules, orders and material delivery are completed in line with the procurement tracker. Adhere to relevant procurement policies, guidelines, and legal requirements.

Your Skills and Experience



This role is ideally suited to a buying professional who has experience in commercially managing medium-sized projects or multiple smaller projects in their current role.

The ideal candidate will be/have;

Degree qualified or equivalent, demonstrable and relevant buying and Procurement experience. Proficient IT user including standard packages such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, MS Teams, etc. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and effective time management skills. Clear and effective communicator, in-person, via email and in meetings. Able to set clear objectives for themselves and others (in line with the needs of the role). Effective Budget management and negotiation skills. Hold a current and valid UK Driving licence. Experience using NAV (desirable). Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)(desirable).
