We are seeking a Buyer to join our Procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods, materials, and services to meet the company's operational requirements. This includes negotiating prices, managing terms of supply, overseeing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely delivery while maintaining quality and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Source and purchase raw materials, components, consumables, and services in line with production requirements.
Build and maintain effective supplier relationships to secure quality, delivery, and cost benefits.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, lead times, and terms of supply to optimise value for the company.
Manage supplier performance, resolving delivery or quality issues promptly to avoid production delays.
Monitor material usage and inventory levels, raising purchase orders and expediting deliveries where required.
Work closely with production, planning, quality, and engineering teams to forecast demand and ensure availability of critical materials.
Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities through supplier negotiations, alternative sourcing, or process improvements.
Maintain accurate purchasing records, including pricing, lead times, supplier data, and contract terms
Ensure compliance with company purchasing procedures, quality standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
Support supplier audits and evaluations in line with quality and operational standards.
Requirements
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
Knowledge of manufacturing supply chains, materials planning, and procurement processes.
Good understanding of engineering drawings/specifications (desirable).
Analytical and detail-focused with problem-solving ability.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across suppliers and internal teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
Qualifications & Experience
Previous experience in a buying or procurement role within a manufacturing/engineering environment.
Understanding of quality systems (ISO9001 or equivalent) and supplier compliance.
