. This role is critical in delivering customer priorities and ensuring maximum value through effective procurement strategies.
As a Buyer, you will manage the procurement of subcontract packages in line with the CPS Business Strategy, helping to mitigate risk and deliver efficient supply chain solutions. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant procurement.
What you'll be doing
Manage procurement activities for works packages within defined budgets.
Support tendering, market analysis, supplier selection, and risk/opportunity assessments.
Conduct supplier evaluations and commercial checks, including past performance reviews.
Develop procurement plans and packaging strategies.
Maintain and manage the supplier database linked to
Compete For
, including market assessments and prequalification tracking.
Collaborate with Parent Company Procurement teams to monitor key commodities and markets.
Negotiate and establish framework supply agreements, ensuring best value and compliance.
Build and maintain long-term supplier relationships focused on value, quality, and continuous improvement.
Support local, diverse, and SME engagement strategies, including hosting Meet the Buyer events.
Who we're looking for
Proven experience in procurement or buying within construction, infrastructure, or related sectors.
Strong decision-making skills with a focus on achieving best value.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Understanding of financial and accounting principles.
Effective negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
