What You'll Be Doing?



Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer will take responsibility for the purchase and supplier management of a range of products. They will be expected to interface with other procurement professionals across the group and work closely with colleagues in Production. The role is to source the correct products at the right time and price in line with Manufacturing requirement and approved requests, considering market influences, stock control and logistics.

Key responsibilities include:

Source, procure, negotiate, and administer cost effective purchase (to specification, on time at best pricing) of all components and supplies. Tracks orders and shipment and take corrective action to expedite late, incomplete, or defective deliveries. Maintain and control stocks at cost-effective levels using the MRP system. Act on purchasing reports created from the MRP system. Develop and maintain key suppliers and monitor performance. Assist in sourcing new suppliers and facilities Develop and maintain appropriate 'terms and conditions' for all EI procurements. Maintain database of orders, products, components, suppliers, and costs. Assist with the implementation of process improvements Ensure purchasing system complies with company operating procedures. Other tasks as deemed necessary by the Purchasing Manager Maintain best working practices at all times in line with Health and Safety policy guidelines.

What You'll Need to Bring



To succeed in this role, you'll bring a mix of relevant experience, skills, and personal qualities, including:

Proven experience in industrial purchasing, with strong knowledge of sourcing components and assemblies. Familiarity with purchasing mechanical machined parts, printed circuit boards (PCBs), contract manufacturing, cables and electro-mechanical sub-assemblies, power supplies, scientific supplies, and precision machining. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Proficient in MRP/ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Solid understanding of purchasing terms and conditions. CIPS Level 4 qualification (or working towards it) in procurement or supply. Strong attention to detail - accurate, thorough, and committed to high-quality work. Excellent organisational skills - able to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines effectively. A collaborative approach - confident working as part of a team and communicating clearly with colleagues. A proactive mindset - takes ownership of tasks and follows them through to completion.
