Job Overview

As our commercial team expands, we are seeking a proactive Buyer to support our Construction and FM teams. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and value across procurement processes.

Responsibilities

Establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, contractors and clients Working with the surveying team to establish technical specifications for enquiries Evaluate and source sub-contract suppliers and raise orders Getting quotes from suppliers and contractors Preparing and submitting cost comparisons for materials, plant, etc Negotiating supplier agreements/contracts Reviewing venders/suppliers Maintaining records Ensuring timely delivery of good and services Ensuring products and services meet quality standard Raising purchase orders Material and plant procurement for existing and new sites Sending out first phase enquiries across a range of materials and plant Work closely with site managers on agreed variations and material flow Raise orders to deliver customer variations Work with surveyors on material flow, site budget and specifications Working with team members to complete duties, as needed Providing general and administration support to team Any other duties as reasonably required

Experience

& Skill

At least 5 years previous experience in a buying/procurement type role, working in a busy office environment,

within the construction industry is preferred

Strong knowledge of logistics, supply chain management, and related software systems Fully proficient in all areas of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of securing favourable terms from suppliers Proficient in data analysis with a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy Ability to plan, prioritise and organise work activities Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines Ability to communicate effectively Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated to meet deadlines.
